Before we begin, you are probably wondering what qualifies me to write about creating a great interview? I began doing them officially in 2006 and don’t plan on stopping them…ever. I’ve got more traffic to my site http://hologramchat.com than some companies that gross 100 million dollars a year. you can see what I mean on http://Alexa.com
The first step is to come up with a plan. Who would you most like to interview or who would your audience most like to hear from? Seeing yourself doing interesting interviews is key. If you are bored than your audience will be to.
When you ask the person for the inteview, tell them the benefits of doing it with you. Don’t grovel or beg, maintain your posture and keep it simple. In the request you can give them a heads up as to where you want this to go.
Make up seven questions that are “sample” questions that you think will work. Be very clear about the fact that the interviewee can come up with some or all of their own questions too. They know that this is a form of free press from them, so they will likely be happy that you’ve asked them.
Be congruent with your message. unless your site is a jack of all trades type of site. Search engines prefer for your information to be on topic, consistent, original content. this means that you don’t post it on twenty sites, make it unique to your site.
Maintain eye contact and L-i-S-T-E-N to your guest. It looks bad if you are interviewing someone only to try and make it about you, don’t go there. Thank them at the beginning and end of the interview, ( they took their time to help you so show your appreciation).
It’s ok to go off of your script and improvise if you need extra clarity about a question’s response. Don’t do this too much as it will make your guest potentially uncomfortable.
Upload your video to youtube or similar site, embed it into your site.
The software for your interview can be Skype, OovoO, Ichat, or a host of others. I recommend OoVoO. Put a cloth or cool curtain/background up. This could be a green screen, (Tonight show style curtain), Tapestry, whiteboard, or plants and pictures. Make sure you have good lighting and earphones.
If you find this information helpful, please share the love and tweet/share on your blog providing you give credit and backlink to http://hologramchat.com
Enjoy your interviews and don’t be afraid to ask insightful, deep questions. Your audience will appreciate it, to your success, Jonathan Lunger of http://Hologramchat.com , a division of Energize Drink Com LLC
